2008 Update - March 17, 2008

Well..... another year is well into full swing. The tour last year went well. Had alot of great gigs, a few shit ones, met alot of great people, saw a fair bit more of this big brown land. I'df love to be able to say that I have more tours booked here and abroad, but unfortunatly it's back to the coalface for me for a while. I'm heading back out to job in the desert of Western Australia. Gotta feed the family, it also, for better or worse keeps me grounded in reality. I got plenty more songs to sing and many more roads to travel, hopefully there'll be alot more of that later in the year, but my music aint payin the bills, at least not yet.
Time to work hard for what it's worth, with a spanner in my hand and a song in my heart, keep ya ears open and be good to each other.....be seein' ya soon!

The Road Begins... - October 23, 2007

Well well.... The first two weeks of the tour are over and there has been some cracker gigs. Just finished the second w/end which saw Matiss Schubert(Fiddle/Mandolin) and Teal Bain-Roben(Drums) and myself play five gigs in four days...with support from Owen Campbell. Had a great gig Saturdy night at Tanswells Commercial Hotel in Beechworth... the rest are also of a mention but we had the best reception here.
So the tour has kicked off and the next three weeks see Owen and Myself following that long white line out to Bourke and then onto Brisbane where Matiss will rejoin the tour for the final three weeks... With the wind at our back and a song in our heart I hope to be performing to many more appreciative folks in many more towns....
In song....Jack

Black Top Blues - October 3, 2007

Well... after a cold winter... and many great times....my new album "Black Top Blues" is finally finished.... And is available at gigs and through the website....
The tour kicks of next week...33 gigs in 60 days ...from the red dirt country to green and blue of the mountains meeting the sea.
Look out for Owen, Matiss and myself blowing through a town near you soon.....
Hope yous are all in fine voice as another year tails off into the distance....

East Coast tour - May 31, 2007

Well folks...great news...I've just been notified of my acceptance for a remote touring grant....woooooohhhhooo!
So da wheels are in motion and I'll be back on da road by the end of the year with a crackin' new album in my hot little hand.....so keep ya ears open.....

long time no type - May 29, 2007

Well....It has been way too long since I wrote anything in here. Ihave tried a few times and then it's gone missing in cyber space.......enough excuses.
I have'nt played a gig in a little while for reasons a plenty. Been way up in the north of Australia workin' a a red dirt mine for a while, tryin' to get some cash together for the new album...and it is on it's way...went in the studio the other day to lay gown a track...and well....I reckon it's gold.....a few great players with big hearts made it all come alive. So if I do have any people out there who like what I do then stick around 'cause the ball is just gettin' rollin'....

Border Ranges - October 6, 2006

Well, the trail is still winding on, playin' gigs and tryin' to get gigs. We've left Queensland now. Played in Nimbin last week. Was'nt a gig to go down in history, I'd been as crook as a dog the week prior, literally, howlin' at the moon and chasing cars. So Istruggled through the gig and had a desent reception...I always think of the Greg Brown line, "What's your name, that's right Brown. Your crowd only drink water, I'm suprised you're still around."
And so it is, I love playing relevant music to folks all over, travelling and singin'. It sure would be nice sometimes though if they could turn off the horse races when ya play though....
Brisbane was very kind to me, had a great little gig at Folk Redlands, the folk club gigs are so rock'n'roll I even had awomen knitting through my whole set...got a jumper out of it though.
Gunna be hangin' 'bout northern NSW over the next few weeks, a few gigs and a few moments... for when the world seems strange, just sit on back and stare at the Border Range....

East Coast Tour - July 8, 2006

Well folks, we are currently in northern Queensland and booking a run of gigs headin' south starting in August. The road we travel ain't the easiest one, but that's what livin' is all about. So the sun is shinning and the wind's at our back. Hope to see ya's at a gig soon......Jack
